Businessman John Brandon Murray was murdered on Sunday as he was leaving the Mayfair Hotel in Kingston.

About 4:45 PM Murray was on feet, about to leave the hotel when a Toyota Probox pulled up and fired several shots in his direction.

He was hit multiple times and was pronounced dead when he arrived at the Kingston Public Hospital. He was 48 years old.

He was well known in the sports and entertainment industry

News of his death shocked those who knew him in both the business and political circles.

Minster of Sports Babsy Grange said, ” I knew Brandon very well. I was shocked when I heard that he was murdered earlier today (yesterday). He contributed to the development of football in Jamaica — himself a former player. He continued contributing as one of the best in sports infrastructure development”.

She went on to say, “I pray for his family and loved ones at this time. Jamaica has lost a true son of the soil who was very passionate about the country”.

John Brandon Murray was also a partner in the family-owned business “Murray’s Fish and Jerk Hut”.

This location is well known to those who travel frequently travel to Clarendon for the popular party called “Chillin on the farm”.

He was also known for being a top land developer as he developed places like Brancourt, Mount Pleasant Academy, Catherine Hall, the Jamaica Football Federation Centre of Excellence, Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium, and Jacisera Park.

He was also a former football player himself who played for Munro and St George’s College.

So far there has been no arrests for Murray’s murder but the Police are investigating. Due to the high profile nature of the victim, the claims of contract killing are already making their way around town.

There was no robbery so naturally, that is the next assumption people will make.
