Nowhere is safe in Jamaica, not even gated communities. The newly built apartment complex in Forest Hill, Red Hills has already been soiled with the stain of blood. A man and a woman travelling in a Toyota Motorcar were ambushed by two men on motorbikes around 4 PM. They were attacked at the entrance to the complex and followed inside the apartment where the car they were travelling in crashed and came to a standstill.
Both of them were rushed to the hospital but were pronounced dead. This area is one of the quietest places in St. Andrew and that has changed in the blink of an eye. New residents who were only celebrating getting the keys to their new homes were seen visibly shaken by what just happened on their doorsteps. The Forest Ridge complex has a stationary security guard at the gate and from the outside looks like a fortress. Unfortunately, gunmen don’t care about security and will strike anywhere, anytime. The victims have been identified as 36-year-old Taxi man Winston Walters and Businesswoman Simone Colleymore.
